These terms govern your use of the Urban Tales mobile app and the urbantales.net website (together, "Urban Tales" or "the service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Urban Tales.
Who We Are
Urban Tales is operated by Leandro Ferreira Pimentel, an individual registered in Mexico ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@urbantales.net.
The Service
Urban Tales finds landmarks near you and plays audio stories about them, in the language and narration style you choose. You can also create walking tours and share them. Stories are written with the help of AI from public information and may contain mistakes or simplifications; they are for entertainment and general interest, not professional, historical or travel advice. Opening hours, prices and access to places can change, so check them before you go.
Your Account
- You must be at least 16 years old to use Urban Tales.
- You're responsible for keeping your login details safe and for activity on your account.
- Give accurate information when you sign up. You may delete your account at any time from the app or by contacting us.
Stay Safe While Exploring
Urban Tales is meant to be used while walking. Always pay attention to traffic, your surroundings and local rules. Don't use the app while driving or anywhere it would be unsafe to listen to audio. Don't enter private property, closed areas or anywhere you aren't allowed to be, even if a landmark appears in the app. You explore at your own risk.
Location
The service needs your device's location to find nearby landmarks and play stories, and, if you turn on Pocket Mode, to do so while the app runs in the background. How we handle location and other data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Free Use, Coins and Purchases
- You can listen to a limited number of stories for free. Unlimited listening and Pocket Mode require a Day Pass, a City Unlock or an Unlimited plan. Some narration styles are unlocked with coins or by reaching a level.
- Coins are a virtual item used only inside Urban Tales to unlock these features. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money and can't be transferred to another account. Coins earned through activity or promotions may have their own conditions.
- Purchases are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms. Refund requests are handled by the store you bought from, under its policies, unless the law requires otherwise.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account settings, at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
- We may change prices, features included in each option, or promotions in the future. Changes won't affect a period you have already paid for.
Referrals, Promo and Trip Pass Codes
Invite codes, promo codes and travel-agency Trip Pass codes may give coins or access under the conditions shown when you redeem them. Codes can't be sold or traded, and we may cancel rewards obtained through misuse, such as fake accounts or self-referrals.
Content You Share
When you share a tour, write feedback or post other content, you keep ownership of it and give us a worldwide, free licence to host, display and distribute it within Urban Tales and on our channels for as long as it is shared. Only share content you have the right to share, and nothing illegal, hateful, misleading or that infringes others' rights. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Acceptable Use
Don't misuse the service: no attempts to break, overload or reverse-engineer it, no scraping or automated access to its content, no reselling access, and no use that breaks the law.
Our Content
The app, the website, the stories, the brand and the design belong to Urban Tales or its licensors. You may use them for your personal, non-commercial use within the service. Third-party data such as maps, place information and photos is provided by their owners under their own terms.
Social Media Integrations
Urban Tales may use the official tools of social networks, such as TikTok and Instagram, only to publish and measure content on Urban Tales' own accounts. We don't post on your behalf.
Availability and Changes
We work to keep Urban Tales available, but the service may be interrupted, change or stop working in some places, for example where there are few known landmarks or no internet connection. We may add, change or remove features. If we discontinue the service, we'll tell you in advance where possible.
Disclaimers and Liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we don't guarantee that stories or tours are complete, accurate or suitable for any purpose, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses arising from your use of places you visit. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
Ending Your Use
You can stop using Urban Tales and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Unused coins have no cash value and are lost when an account is deleted, unless the law requires otherwise.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Mexico. If you live in another country, you also keep the protections of its mandatory consumer laws.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, for important changes, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Urban Tales after a change means you accept the updated terms.
